Email QR Codes

Create a QR code that opens the user's email app with recipient, subject, and body already filled in. One scan, one tap to send.

How Email QR Codes Work

Email QR codes use the mailto: URI scheme. When scanned, the device opens the default email client with pre-filled fields. The format is:

mailto:hello@example.com?subject=Hello&body=I%20have%20a%20question

Use Cases

  • Customer support — Place on packaging or receipts so customers can email you instantly with a pre-filled subject like "Support Request - Order #"
  • Feedback collection — Print on receipts: "Scan to send us feedback"
  • Event RSVPs — Pre-fill "RSVP: [Event Name]" in the subject
  • Newsletter signups — Pre-fill a subscribe request email
  • Job applications — Pre-fill the position name in the subject line

Tips

  • Keep the pre-filled body short — users can add their own text
  • Use a clear subject line so you can filter incoming emails
  • Works across all email clients: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.
  • Test on both iOS and Android before printing

Email QR vs Contact Form

Email QR codes require no hosting, no backend, and no maintenance. Unlike web-based contact forms, they work offline and feel more personal. The downside: you can't validate or structure responses.
