Restaurant Menu QR Codes
Digital menus via QR code are now standard in hospitality. Here's how to set them up properly.
Why QR Menus?
- Hygiene — No shared physical menus
- Easy updates — Change prices or items without reprinting
- Cost savings — No printing costs for menu changes
- Multilingual — Link to translated versions
Setup in 4 Steps
- Host your menu online — Use your website, Google Drive PDF, or a service like Canva. Get a URL.
- Generate the QR code — Use our URL QR generator. Paste your menu URL.
- Brand it — Add your restaurant logo and match your colors.
- Print & display — Table tents, stickers, or acrylic holders work great.
Display Best Practices
- Print at minimum 4cm × 4cm for table-distance scanning
- Add text: "Scan for Menu" — not everyone knows what a QR code does
- Use waterproof lamination for table displays
- Place at eye level when seated — avoid under table edges
- Test in your actual lighting conditions
Pro Tip: Multiple QR Codes
Use our batch generator to create unique QR codes per table — this enables table-specific ordering if your system supports it.
Common Mistakes
- ❌ Linking to a non-mobile-friendly page
- ❌ QR code too small or low contrast
- ❌ No fallback for customers without smartphones
- ❌ Not testing after printing
